Summer Learning Journey - Week 1 Day Activity 2: Fabulous Ferns

Activity 2: Fabulous Ferns [4 points]

One of the most common plants found in New Zealand forests is the fern. It is a special, iconic symbol of New Zealand. You will find pictures of ferns on the jerseys of many famous sporting teams in New Zealand, including the New Zealand All Blacks.
Did you know that many of these teams also have the word ‘fern’ in their name? Use your best researching skills to find three New Zealand sporting teams who use the word ‘fern’ in their title.
list three sports teams that have the word ‘fern’ in their title. Beside each team’s name, post a picture of their uniform. Then, at the bottom of your blog post tell us which of the three uniforms you like best and why.
1. Silver Ferns
2.White Ferns
3. Black Ferns

Hi there Tyra,

I can see that you've successfully found three NZ sports teams with the word 'fern' in their title. As a part of this activity, you will need to find and insert the photos of their uniforms right next to their name.

Do you know much about the Explore tool Tyra? It helps you find photos that are labelled for reuse. Pixabay is also another amazing website with lots of photos you can use for free! You should definitely check out these online tools and make sure to double-check that there is 'no attribution required' for the images.

It is important that we check this information because some images may require attribution (we need to give credit to the owner). Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions!

You will also need to choose ONE out of the three uniforms and tell me why it was your favourite. Think about which part of the uniform you like the best and why. You can think about its colour, shape and design.

Looking forward to hearing back from you,
Susie :)
